Bernell (Irons) Caldwell, 84, of Mt. Ida, Arkansas, passed away on July 5, 2019. She was born to Carroll and Ethel (Duncan) Irons in Washita, Arkansas on July 19, 1934.
She worked 44 years for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. and AT&T in Dallas, Texas. Bernell retired to Hot Springs, Arkansas in 1997 and then soon volunteered at St. Joseph Hospital. She enjoyed taking bus trips and seeing different parts of the country. She was a member of Hot Springs Baptist Church and enjoyed participating in various activities.
Bernell is preceded in death by her infant son and her parents. She is survived by her borther, Glenn Irons (Bonnie), her nephews, Russell Irons and Troy Caudle (Liz), great niece, Alyssa Hesser (Travis), and a great-great nephew, Jack Hesser.
Graveside service will be at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, July 8, 2019 at Reed Cemetery in Story, Arkansas with Bro. Don Vaughn officiating. Honorary pallbearers are the staff of the Montgomery Co. Nursing Home. Arrangements were made under the direction of Thornton Funeral Home of Mount Ida, AR. Guest register at www.thorntonfh.com
